Security Expert Speaks On Ways Of Boko Haram Attacks Prevention


President of the Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operatives of Nigeria (AISSON) Ona Ekhomu explained what Nigerians can do to avert and defend against some Boko Haram attacks.
Commenting on the , which took place on May 18 and , Ekhomu said the attacks were facilitated by observable and exploitable vulnerabilities, The Nation reports.
Suspicious items
The security expert described the process of attack planning and arrangement saying that terrorists should be reported at this stage. According to him, "accumulating gas cylinders or bags of fertilizer are terrorist attack pre-incident indicators (TAPIs) which could signal imminence of a bombing attack".
Suspicious behaviour
When terrorists start assembling explosive devices, they become "secretive and edgy" without tolerating anyone around the place of preparation.
According to Ekhomu, people behaving in such a manner should be reported as suspects. He urged Nigerians to provide precise description to facilitate investigation.
Be attentive
AISSON head stressed that correct memorizing of car models and number plates by the citizens would be very helpful for further investigation of the incidents, meanwhile providing wrong description could mislead investigators.
Ekhomu commended  Kala Balge and Madagali residents, who formed vigilante groups and killed hundreds of Boko Haram insurgents in and  raids, for their corageous behaviour.
