The defection which took place at Ifaki-Ekiti, turned the area into a vibrant political centre.
The former PDP chieftain, who allegedly defected with about 25,000 of his supporters has changed all political calculations in the state ahead of next month’s governorship election.
Oni and his supporters were seen receiving APC flag at the event which took place in Ifaki-Ekiti.
It was gathered that in less than 48hrs, PDP membership in the state have drastically reduced following the recent defections of Oni, and Taiwo Olatunbosun, over the weekend.
However, sources claim Olatunbosu, defected to APC because he couldn't stand Ayodele Fayose, who is the PDP candidate in the June 21 gubernatorial election.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Kayode Fayemi, described Oni's move as a huge victory for the party, especially as the election draws near.
Fayemi disclosed that the former governor would be welcomed to the APC at an enlarged rally on May 21st 2014.
