Bayo Okunade, who is also the Director of Distance Learning Centre at the University of Ibadan made this statement while speaking at the third joint matriculation ceremony of Foreign Links Campus, Moro, Ife North, Osun State.
He said: “Education is a global commodity. There can’t be local standard.”
The professor while commenting on the mass failure of students recorded in the recently concluded Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it was as a result of the students in-exposure to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that wasn't introduced early enough.
He further stated Nigeria will be a better place if politicians think of the way for forward: “If our politicians were more humane and public oriented, with the aim to serve, Nigeria would have been a better nation for us all, as every kobo misappropriated translates to denial of certain necessary basic amenity.”
Of recent Nigeria has been in the news for the wrong reasons.
It would be recalled that this month, April, Nigeria was ranked the worst country for young people to prosper despite its relatively high national income, according to a new index on the well-being of global youth.
While aside being the worst country, a recent study showed that Nigerian youth were the least happy in the world.
